"The wisdom of the wise, and the experience of ages, may be preserved by quotations" Isaac D'Israeli
"It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations." Winston Churchill
"I decided also early on that I would file away any good quotes I came across in my reading and share them with my investor family at appropriate moments" Ralph Wanger
“One of my hobbies is collecting quotations. Socrates said employ your time in reading great people’s lives so you can learn in a very simple way what it took them all their life to do. The best way I found to do that is in a quote. Sometimes in a quote you can capture what a person took a whole life to learn, incredible wisdom through that. I have about 5,000 quotes on my computer and I log them by subject so whenever I am studying a subject I have the chance to read what all the great people thought about that” Arnold Van Den Berg
Welcome to the Investment Masters Class.
I started the Investment Masters Class with the intention that should my children one day wish to become investors, I can share with them here the lessons of the world's most successful investors.
I have been in the investment advisory business for over 20 years working for a global Investment Bank advising hedge funds and institutional long only accounts. I've lived through the tech boom, the Asian crisis and the Global Financial Crisis.
My father was a stockbroker and my grandfather was a proprietary trader. I love this business.
What differentiates the Investment Masters Class from most other finance courses is both the structure of the learning and the different topics covered.
The Investment Masters Class will cover important topics that are missing from typical finance courses. It's amazing that few finance courses [Columbia Business School is the key exception] actually study Warren Buffett/Charlie Munger et al, human psychology or financial history.
The tutorials cover common philosophies, insights, and investing processes that are common to the world's greatest investors for they actually are their words and wisdom. You teachers are investors with solid long term track records of outperformance, not career academics.
The Investment Masters Class tutorials are based upon quotations I have collected over two decades of studying and learning from the Investment Masters - reading annual letters, investment books and interviews with the Investment Masters.
The Investment Masters Class is more liberal arts and psychology than academic finance.
Whether you are just starting your journey in the investment world or you run a billion dollar fund [as many of my clients do], I'm certain you'll find the tutorials a useful aid in thinking about and managing money.
